Martin Strange - Dan grade for 21 years
Coached at: Whitley Judo Club (10 Years), Surrey University (4 years) & Windsor intermittently since 2017.
First started judo in 1974 at Farholme Judo club with Roy Inman, but stopped in 1977 due to moving out area. Started judo again in around 2001 and trained at various Club Farholme, Yamabushi, Whitley, High Wycombe, Windsor and others.
Interest outside judo, Classic cars, Motor cycles and Ornithology.
Nick started judo in 1975 at Windsor Youth club and moved across to Montem Sports Centre from around 1978 where he stayed until 1981. Nick then started practising at Wycombe Sports Centre where he continued to train until 1999. Whilst training at Wycombe, he simultaneously coached at Windsor from the early 1990s. At this time, he was also a regular attendee at Fairholme Judo Club, benefitting from the coaching skills of Roy Inman.
From the early 1990s until 2018, Nick was the lead coaches for senior judo at Windsor JC. Having contributed to the club for almost thirty years Nick decided to take a well-earned rest. Nick is now a Windsor JC Vice President, and his role is more advisory than frontline delivery but can be found occasionally coaching our Randori sessions
Nick is also author of the book Windsor Judo Club 1950-2020
Victor is our most active coach leading the senior sessions throughout the week and most importantly running the Monday beginners class laying down, from experience, solid foundations for a long and successful life in Judo
First started Judo in mid-2000 at Cox Green community centre and reached 5th kyu before packing it in.
Tom joined the British Army in 2008 and served 9 years with the Coldstream Guards reaching the rank of Sergeant. I am now a member of the Army reserves and represent them in Judo, we are the Tri service winners for the past 3 years! I have competed at Wycombe masters at 1st Kyu took gold also at Dan Grade and took Bronze. I also practice BJJ and currently a blue belt.
Interest outside judo gym, football, cooking and travelling.
Danni Batt, age 34
Started at Lightwater Judo club aged 9 and have trained all over including Henley, Pinewood and High Wycombe before joining Windsor in 2008.
Level 2 coach at Windsor since 2012.
At the age of 30 decided to embark on a challenge to compete (and medal) in 40 countries before 40.
Current Highlights include 2022 World Championship Gold u70kg in Poland and Silver u78kg in AbuDhabi 2023.
Currently on track to surpass the half way mark by age 35.
Sergio Tomas, age 45. Dan grade for over 10 years.
Started judo at the age of 26 in 2004, in Yamato Judo Club, Spain, with sensei Enrique Riquelme.
Interests outside Judo: Guitar, technology
Started judo at the age of 31 in 2007, in Reading university judo club briefly, before, moving to Windsor after being recommended it and initially coached by Roy Flower and Nick Fletcher.
Other hobbies include travelling, swimming and anthology.
Our Junior Section coaches are all experienced in coaching young children placing an emphasis on fun and friendship. We understand how challenging your first Judo session can be and we will help and support newcomers to gain the confidence to join in and really look forward to the next session.
Paul grew up in Manchester where he first started judo as a teenager but moving away from the area meant he was unable to continue. Paul began again on moving to Windsor
Paul has been the driving force of the club in recent years as both Junior Club Coach and , until recently, Club Chairman. 35+ years as a teacher and his love of Judo makes him an ideal coach for our Junior players
Pete started Judo in the RAF and returned to Judo at 50 as an enjoyable way of keeping fit and meeting new people. Pete is currently going through level 2 coaching exams and is the club's Treasurer. Outside Judo Pete enjoys Running, football, playing cricket and playing with Grandchildren.
